Introducing Hog Hoggidy Hog

What Francis Coppola is to the godfather, Hog Hoggidy Hog are to the South African music scene. They epitomized a genre fused with ska, punk, trash with a touch of jazz but not forgetting their roots and incorporating an African feel. And as quick as they exploded onto the music scene of the 1990′s, they were just as quickly lapped up by fans and people all over the country. Leaving a trail of utter debauchery, trashed venues, bad hangovers, naked stage performances, blood noses, black eyes and countless empty cans.
They have come along way from the days playing at the purple turtle, they have headlined most of South Africa’s music festivals as well as taking their unique sound abroad playing to crowds in Germany, Slovenia, England, Holland, Switzerland and Austria. Their fan base quickly expanded on international levels too. They are a religion to most and you either love them or you love to hate them. But either way it is filled with love at some point. They have also played with some of the most recognizable international acts including Nofx, Mad Caddies and Lagwagon.
With six great albums behind their names the highly awaited new album method to madness was what was to be expected. It fuses all what is loved about them with a little clearer, crisper sound. And although they may be older and a little more professional and the sound a whole lot clearer there are still loads about The Hogs that are the same, their passion for music, for people, for onstage performance and the great love affair they all share- THEIR music! I personally played their album on repeat for as long as it took me too learn the words and mosh around my living room, forgetting London outside and going back to Mercury Live or Uprising amongst all the love and chaos as they rocked out on stage. Their latest album is their best yet, and hopefully it wont be as long until the next one is released.
