London-based Irish quartet Black Soul Strangers have set a UK single release for new single ‘Lies’ on November 30th through Squeek Records. Taken from their forthcoming debut album ‘Animate’, to be released next year, ‘Lies’ is an addictive blast of full throttle guitar-pop.

Black Soul Strangers burst to life in an old school house in coastal Donegal, Ireland, where Barry Gorey and Brendan O’Mahoney began throwing ideas at each other for what will become their debut album.

The introduction of multi instrumentalist James O’Brien to the fold brought them from the school house to Windmill Lane studios in Dublin, where the honing of their blistering live set to tape was the responsibility of Producer Tom McFall. His track record of work includes Snow Patrol, R.E.M, and Bloc Party.

In recording, the sound of a crashing drum across a studio floor and a 50 strong choral voice painted colour tone contrast, highlighting the musical chaos of Black Soul Strangers. Instinctive clattering rhythms capture the emotion and pace of these experiences, capped with a heartfelt vocal delivery that reinforces the impact and personal nature of the songs.

In January 09 the band left the warmth of home with the finished recordings, relocating to London enlisting the help of guitaristPhilip Wyer, completing the band’s final line-up.

Attacking the London scene face-on has showcased the bands raw talent for song writing and performance swiftly earning them a growing army of fans and a reputation as ones to watch for 2010.
