Introducing Daytona Lights

Introducing Daytona Lights

Daytona Lights are a band I have had the fortune of seeing and working with a lot with since their conception in September last year. They play the sort of catchy infectious tracks that have you wishing you knew more of the lyrics to sing into your mirror at home.

Drummer Sam Fordham’s creativity underpins the spikey guitar work of Matthew Gill who is supported on bass by the dandy Laurence Saywood. These three’s energy and enthusiasm for their craft and music is obvious and goes hand in hand with the alluring aura and intensity of front-man Danny Daytona.

There is a unity and bond between them as a quintet, not seen in many new bands, that materializes in their spine tingling warm group harmonies. These support Danny’s lyrics. Now I am a real sucker for lyrics, especially those that are pertinent and resonate with me and Danny’s lyrics do this perfectly. They are heart felt, sharp social observational tales that everyone can empathise with and relate to.

Currently seen in the latest Blackberry campaign, they host the monthly ‘Keep It On The DL’ at The Old Blue Last and with their ‘Air. And Balloon EP’ on their myspace now and due to be released on iTunes soon, these boys are destined for big things… Ones to watch for sure.
