KoЯn play landmark show in a crop circle

KoЯn is once again reinventing itself and doing something innovative, nine albums and two decades into its illustrious career. The band will perform an hour and twenty minutes set inside a mysterious crop circle that was recently revealed in the final instalment of a viral web campaign. The band worked closely with longtime UK-based circle makers, circlemakers.org, on the shadowy design which features a series of intricate rings, one of which includes the iconic KoЯn logo, and stretches over 920 feet long and 350 feet wide. The concert event, which is a first for a rock band, takes inspiration from the eerie atmosphere of Pink Floyd’s legendary “Live at Pompeii.” The concert will have a worldwide online premiere on Monday, July 12th via MySpace in countries all over the world.
“The setting and the mood took us into a totally new direction musically. We took the opportunity to stretch out and experiment with the performance. I don’t think we’ll ever be the same,” said frontman Jonathan Davis. “I felt like we were on some new frontier musically for KoЯn”, said guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer. “This is definitely going to add a new dimension to our live shows.”
Over the last month, KoЯn web watchers were exposed to mysterious footage shot from a wheat field near the band’s native Bakersfield, CA. The viral series led many to wonder what was going on and what exactly Korn had in store for their loyal fans and the time has now come to find out what is really going on with these “signs.” The band will perform several songs from ‘KoЯn III – Remember Who You Are’, their new album which is due out on Monday 12th July. Korn will also dip into their extensive catalogue and play numerous classics and fan favourites. ‘Korn III – Remember Who You Are’ is currently riding high on the pre-release charts at Play, Amazon and HMV. First single, ‘Oildale (Leave Me Alone)’ is available now.
“We spent a lot of time fooling around in the wheatfields and cornfields surrounding Bako when we were kids, and it gets pretty spooky out there at night. That’s where we got the inspiration for the whole thing, so we decided to have some fun with the viral videos,” Davis also said.
KoЯn start their co-headline run on the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem tour this weekend and bring their incendiary show to the UK later this summer, as special guests at Ozzfest at the O2 Arena in Docklands.
