Our Team
Clink Music Magazine would not be possible without the help of some very talented and passionate individuals and for this we thank them. They’re vital and important to us and in order for you to get to know them a little better we asked some prying questions, some related to Clink Music Magazine and others not. Everyone loves a good questionnaire and these are our answers!

Favourite live show experience? I have different favourites, Metallica at a BBC studio for the initmacy, Smashing Pumpkins on their final tour for the moment in time, Thrice at The Electric Ballroom and Jimmy Eat World at Brixton Academy because of the artistic brilliance on stage and Rage Against The Machine because it’s RAGE!!!
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only choose one album for the rest of your life what would it be? I have three choices, I would take either one for two reasons. Firstly all three are basically double albums therefore maximum amount of songs. Secondly all three have so much variety on the album that I don’t think I could get bored of them, Ever!
The Smashing Pumpkins – Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
Thrice – The Alchemy Index
Cosmo Jarvis – Humasyouhitchyousonofabitch
Who would you most like to sit down for a chat and a cup of tea with? Kurt Cobain to find out the truth and Dustin Kensrue, Brandan Boyd, Keith Buckley, Billy Corgan and some others to talk lyrics.
If you could be a maestro of any instrument you choose what would it be? The Banjo, got one as a present a few years back and still haven’t learnt, it’s just such an awesome sounding instrument. It’s so iconic for the south and I think I would really like to one day be able to sit in front of a camp fire on the beach and just rip it.
What site do you visit on a daily basis? I am a serial googler, I google everything. Facebook, wordpress, twitter, stargreen, gibson and cwcwake.com for daydreaming.
Other interests? Wakeboarding, Snowboarding, Flowboarding and BMX are the sports I love but I really respect skateboarders (they slam so hard); I try collect musical instruments, photography, filming and editing and on every second tuesday of the month I professionally install moats with custom trained sharks and crocodiles for rich aristocrats and thugs in east London or Hillbrow.

Favourite live show experience? The first real show I went to was Millencolin at The Astoria in 2000. That was one of the best days of my life because it felt so surreal. I’m from South Africa where international bands don’t travel much so for me coming over here and getting to see them was mind blowing.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only choose one album for the rest of your life what would it be? Editors – The Back Room.
Who would you most like to sit down for a chat and a cup of tea with? My Dad, Mom and Sister. Miss them like crazy.
If you could be a maestro of any instrument you choose what would it be? Guitar. I love everything about them including the way they look, sound and the beautiful sounds that can be made with them.
What site do you visit on a daily basis? Youtube, Twitter, Facebook (in that order).
Other interests? My girl, skateboarding, traveling, talking rubbish, music, internet and dreaming.

Favourite live show experience? I always have a million favourites so I have narrowed a million down to five (well done to me): Korn at Brixton Academy 2008, Nightwish at Astoria 2008, In Flames at Astoria 2008, Deftones at the Forum 2009 & Brixton 2010, Rob Zombie 2011 and Devildriver and Slipkknot at Download 2009. I love them all for different reasons but the common experience is spine-chilling awesomeness.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only choose one album for the rest of your life what would it be? Okay so how must I choose ONE? I guess Once (Nightwish) but Come Clarity (In Flames) and Follow the Leader (Korn) are hot on its heels.
Who would you most like to sit down for a chat and a cup of tea with? Henry viii so I can call him a dick face to face, and JRR Tolkien to thank him for Lord of the Rings and ask for personal Elvish tutorials. Angela Carter is also a must. But they’re dead so of the people still alive it’d be Tuomas Holopainen, Steven King, Tim Burton, Johnny Depp and Thomas Harris – so it’s more like a dinner party than a tea date.
If you could be a maestro of any instrument you choose what would it be? A cello. I love the idea of being a head-banging cellist with heels and a corset, like the dudes from Apocalyptica – who, sadly, do not wear heels or corsets but are inspirational nonetheless. The cello has a melancholic romance about it that appeals to the portion of my brain owned by the Bronte sisters (it’s quite a large portion).
What site do you visit on a daily basis? Rant! – the best site in the history of ever (duh!).

Who would you most like to sit down for a chat and a cup of tea with? Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro.
If you could be a maestro of any instrument you choose what would it be? I’d chose to be a vocalist, so the human voice. If i could sing amazingly in any kind of genre I would be over the moon. Favourite live show experience? This is a tough one, I have so many. Slipknot at Download 2009 with 65,000 people all singing Duality, I’m not a huge fan but that was amazing. Also at Download 2009, Killswitch Engage, because I love them, and the Devildriver record breaking moshpit (I love them too and it was MAD!). Depeche Mode Tour of the Universe (even if they were crap I would have loved it).
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only choose one album for the rest of your life what would it be? Probably Depeche Mode – Singles. It’s memory music from when I was young and that always has the power to make you feel good. (It’s a really difficult decision).
Who would you most like to sit down for a chat and a cup of tea with? This one is easy, Dez Fafara. I’ve read quite a few interviews with him and I really love his attitude to music and to life in general. He’s been through a lot, and despite his age, which is often a factor, he has pulled together one of the best bands of our time. I have a lot of respect for him and what he does and I’d love to have a casual conversation with the guy.
If you could be a maestro of any instrument you choose what would it be (and why)? I’d say the piano. I know the keys are often not as glamourous as some other instruments but I think being the a piano guru lends itself better to adapting your skills to other instruments such as the guitar and chello, both of which I’d also love to play (better for the former).
What site do you visit on a daily basis? You mean aside from Clink ;D. My daughters blog. I’d put the address here but I know Brendan is a bit of a paedo.

Favourite live show experience? Just one!? (Do you know how many gigs I have to choose from…?) Hmmm…if I had to pick one from say, the last six months, it would be Hepcat at Islington Academy. They’re a Californian ska/reggae/rocksteady band and it was their first gig in the UK for over a decade and they might never come back!
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only choose one album for the rest of your life what would it be? You ask really impossible questions! However, if I’m going to get stranded sometime today, I’ll take “Blood On The Tracks” by Bob Dylan. It’s a microcosm of the emotional spectrum and, if I’m going to be alone on an island for the rest of my life, it would be good to remember how messed up human beings were. Some solace, eh..?
Who would you most like to sit down for a chat and a cup of tea with? Someone good at rescuing photographers from desert islands, should the need occur. Or else my friends in general – London makes us too busy! Or did you mean current “famous” music people? Then maybe Jello Biafra or Billy Bragg. I like opinionated people. And strong tea.

What site do you visit on a daily basis? Only Clink.
Oh, and www.distortedmagazine.com, the horribly addictive Facebook, independent and mainstream news sites and some photography ones. I dip into lots of music ones, but listing them will make this blurb even longer and I could really do with a cup of tea, now you’ve mentioned it.

Favourite live show experience? The Awakening, at The Doors in Johannesburg, South Africa. My first taste of how a charismatic frontman can completely change your perceptions of a band.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only choose one album for the rest of your life what would it be? Bloody Kisses/October Rust – Type O Negative, actually, I couldn’t live without any of my Type O albums, so I guess being stranded on a desert island would equal imminent death.
Who would you most like to sit down for a chat and a cup of tea with? Peter Steele, Lord Byron, Marilyn Manson circa 1998 – as in I would have liked to meet him in 1998, see that he was actually a douche supremo, and thus never develop a ridiculous obsession lasting an effing decade.
If you could be a maestro of any instrument you choose what would it be? Cello – gynaecological positions are awesome.
What site do you visit on a daily basis? Blabbermouth, Bulleted, Demon Pigeon – pigeons are cool, but demon pigeons are better.
